oracle
oracle is a collective practice that was developed by Caroline Daish (BE/AU), Justine Maxelon (BE/DE) and Michel Yang (BE/US) in November 2015. In the past three years oracle was presented in varied contexts and appeared spontaneously in public spaces.
Michel passed away in the summer of 2020.
Our interest stretches from the artistic field to social and educational contexts as well as to the care sector.
oracle has been supported by Bains Connective, Kunstenwerkplaats Pianofabriek, nadine vzw, wpZimmer, Buda Kortrijk and the research group of the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp. Thanks to these contexts, it was possible to share our practice, either in the form of
an open lab, workshop, publication, presentation or as a spontaneous intervention.
Among others we performed in the context of Wandering Arts Biennale, Kamernest, Respiro and ARIA.
As a result of our workshops with children, which were organized together with KidsHectoliter and BOZAR and through our experience in the palliative care center Topaz (Infinity program), we became convinced to continue working on the link between art and therapy and to extend the practice to different social groups.
Throughout all these experiences a broader artistic community of oracle practitioners from different disciplines was created.
In 2018 oracle received a 2 year development grant from the Vlaamse Overheid.
