Lawrence McGuire (b. 1997) is a composer based between The Hague and Brussels. As an overarching constant in his sound activities, vocality, including its production as well as perception, is the main topic of his experimental practice: His work can be situated somewhere on the continuum of computer music and sound poetry. As an audio programmer, he recently developed the vocal synthesis program ‘NKOAPP,’ which he now uses in various live settings, with or without his own voice. Aiming to use the synthetic as leeway to investigate psycho-linguistic and acoustic phenomena. And recently, also including his own voice in live performances interpreting elements found in various oral performance practices.
