Sunday Sept 15, 2019
Doors: 16h30
Listening session and Book Launch: 17h00
(free entry)
For its 16th session, Second Sundays celebrates the launch of the new publication from umland “Intermediary Spaces / Espaces Intermédiaires,” an in-depth interview between Éliane Radigue and Julia Eckhardt.
Éliane Radigue is considered one of the most innovative and influential contemporary composers, from her early electronic music through to her acoustic work of the last fifteen years. Influenced by musique concrète and shaped by regular sojourns in the United States, where she discovered analogue synthesisers, her work unfolds an intensity which is at once subtle and monumental. Through her deeps reflections on sound and listening, not only her music but also her working methods have come to shape a widely resonating set of new parameters for working with sound as musical material.
Presented by Julia Eckhardt
– Occam IV (2012) for viola. Performed by Julia Eckhardt
– Transamorem-Transmortem (1974) for fixed media. Live spatialisation by Caroline Profanter.
*NB: Éliane will not be personally present for the session.
__________
Second Sundays is a monthly series initiated by Q-O2. Each session a new guest is invited to share an insight into their own listening, playing and speaking about a selection of sound and music that is important to their thinking or practice. The sessions try to put value on listening to recorded music in a social setting as a space for discussion. The series takes place on the second Sunday of every month. Each session is paired with a cocktail-of-the-month, as decided by the invited guest.
Cocktail of the Month: French 75
