(Un)bound wor(l)ds

How can poetics become a dance? How can a word become a sound? When we connect every word with its own music, what intermediate spaces emerge?

With the interest to explore the human voice as a transductive device, we will work on reconverting collective claims and poetics of diaspora and migration, into a performative sonic experience. During this residency in Q-o2, we are planning to open a research on the transtemporal possibilities of sound to relocate – translocate – dislocate the body into liminal spaces of perception.

Initiating a remote collaborative research with performer and poet Johan Mijail (DR), we will find a way to work on the intersections of experimental radio production and oral poetry, as an attempt to create an embedded and intimate technology, transmitted through each other’s skin. In this process we will experiment with analog electronic sound, poetry and performativity, giving attention to how the sonic materiality of words can be performed as a resurgent and subversive force, addressing different questions on reconnection – place of belonging and no~tra(ns)duction.

We would like to explore different relations between words that sound like sounds, with sounds sounding in the bones and in the body fluids, activating underlying structures as an intense coiling of resonating bodies around an idea or feeling. When speech becomes heat and energy, looping and amplified in the body, how do we move with it? How does it sound?

We would invite an experiential public opening to create a dialogue or exchange around this research practice, focusing on the live experience, the physicality of voicing/sound making and the acoustics of the space. Our interest in this project is to bridge auditory imaginaries of the body into the ears, inviting the participants to fabulate together and become part of a technomagic performance.
