After his residency at Q-O2, Loup Uberto extends his stay in Brussels, with another residency at L’AXOSO/Aquarium, next to Les Brigittines.

Following on from his January residency at QO2, a time dedicated to recording and writing an album and a book in progress, he is opening up the composition stage to his collaborators Soledad Zarka, Antoine Loyer and Vin de Sprite. This is an opportunity to combine the recordings of Piedmontese songs with scattered and raw sound elements, transistors, mobile phones, bowed instruments and chanterelles… an ongoing sound documentation produced in Brussels. It is a series that he has brought into conversation with numerous other collections in Tunisia, Italy and France carried out since January 2023 and brought together in a vast archive of documentary experiments.

His residency at l’Axoso is an opportunity to share his practice and get together with the inhabitants of Les Marolles and anyone else who wants to build DIY instruments.

You’ll be able to pick and choose from a Piedmontese repertoire of songs collected by various ethnomusicologists of the last century: Leone Sinigalia, Roberto Leydi, Sandra Mantovani, Costantino Nigra, Giovanna Gianinetto, Amerigo Vigliermo… (https://loupuberto.fr/cant-piemonteis/) or from a wider Italian repertoire, made up of peasant and labour songs from the north.

Loup is organising a number of public events at L’AXOSO/Aquarium and Zonneklopper during February:

-Open Studio on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10am to 6pm: Monday 05 and Tuesday 06, Monday 12 and Tuesday 13, Monday 19.02.
-workshops with residents of Les Marolles on Wednesday 7, 14 and 21.02 from 16:30 to 18:00

–Friday 23 February, concert from 7.00 pm @Zonneklopper (line-up with Gaml)
–Sunday 17 February, with Soledad Zarka, meeting in front of the aquarium at 5.00 p.m.
–Sunday 25 February, post-residency presentation at the Aquarium, from 2pm!
