During her residency at QO-2, vocal artist, choreographer and performer Ine Claes will be focussing on two parts of her ‘20-‘21 musical development. The first part focuses on a research on vocal acoustic looping. She invites different vocalists to experiment with as Maja Jantar, Lynn Cassiers and Justine Maxelon. Repetition and looping has always been a characteristic of Ine’s vocal and sound world. In this research she decided to work around this one simple idea of the vocal loop and explore it to the core from different perspectives. She seeks to create diverse sonic landscapes by shifting the vocalist’s focus and by developing various vocal relationships.
A second part of the residency goes to the ongoing collaboration with Brazilian composer and multi-instrumentalist Otacílio Melgaço. Together they are creating compositions through a process of alternating the initiator. Ultimately they will create an album. Here’s a short fragment of one of their works, Hundert Wasser:
