Hallveig Agustsdottir, Frederik Croene
27/03/2011 - 08/04/2011

Image, sound, movement, (musical)score are topics which Hallveig Agustsdottir will be exploring during her residency. Based on the visual aspect of Kandinsky’s compositional theory explained in Point and Line to Plane, she intend to extend the image to audio in the live performances.

“[T]he element of time in the point is almost completely eliminated which, in special cases of composition, makes the point inevitable. Its use here corresponds to the sharp blow on a kettle-drum or a triangle in music, or to the short taps of the woodpecker in nature.” Kandinsky, 1926
And so, with the use of (contact) microphones, attached to a performance table it will be possible to amplify the movements, drawings and strokes made while she draws, thus the images is no longer only visible but audible as well. This is a part of realizing a new solo performance project which included working with amplified, and projected live drawing, in a mix with prerecorded videofootage, to create a collage of thoughts/questions such as ‘what is, or what can be, the connection/interaction between image and sound?’ Together with pianist Frederik Croene she will work on their duo project.
