Bartaku & Karl Heinz Jeron & Ruta Vitkauskaite
04/05/2014 - 20:30 - free

I was born in 1962 in Memmingen Germany. I live and work in Berlin. From 2000 to 2006 I have been lecturer for Multimedia Art at the University of Arts Berlin. My works have been exhibited at ZKM Karlsruhe, Ars Electronica Linz, Documenta X, ICA London, Walker Art Museum Minneapolis, Berlinischen Galerie Berlin and the Museum of Modern Art San Francisco.

Ruta Vitkauskaite’s (1984) musical interests are widely varied – while working in the field of classical composition (PhD at Royal Academy of Music at the moment, in 2009 Masters at Lithuanian Academy of Music), Ruta has also been active initiator of experimental music projects (music visualization, acoustic surround, music personalization), organizer (2006-2013 director of Druskomanija festival and workshop series the Process), performer (violin, piano, voice, electronics). Since moving to UK, Ruta has developed deep interest in music education (Learning Trainee at BCMG, Fellow at Open Academy at RAM, since 2013 working creatively with people living with dementia) and in research in personal music performance.

Bartaku is an artist / researcher (Brussels; °1970) who is inspired by systems thinking and driven by quest.

Through interventions, installations, residencies, talks and public labs he explores troping of light and language -both human and non-human. After having explored the wind up realms of threads through various installations, in 2007 he started the ongoing research PhOEF: The Undisclosed Poésis of the Photovoltaic Effect.

The most acclaimed PhoEF-node is the “temporary PhotoElectric Digestopians (tPED) Worklab” series: public experimental labs in which the Sun is caught and translated into electricity via a digestible solar cell that is subsequently experienced on the tongue. These moments of transformation of light are photographed resulting in a growing portrait gallery.
