Pavel Tchikov
Pavel Tchikov is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and improviser based in Belgium. He's the mastermind behind the band OGIVES, a large ensemble at the border of genres combining modern classical composition with post-rock and
electronic music. He composes the music, plays bass, guitar, modular synth, sings and writes some of the lyrics in the band. The first album of the ensemble was mixed by Steve Albini and released trough Sub Rosa.
In parallel Pavel Tchikov acts as a solo artist. His main tool is a modular system, which he uses as an instrument on its own or as an extention for guitar, percussion, and motor-driven instruments. He's mainly playing experimental electronic music with influences from classical pioneers (such as Iannis Xenakis, Pierre Schaeffer, Eliane Radigue, etc), as well as artsits from the actual electronic scene (such as Autechre, Kali Malone, Sote, etc.)
Pavel is a regular collaborator of bassist Farida Amadou. Together they recorded two albums for release on the Chicago based label Trouble in Mind and the German Midira Records (upcoming in 2023). He plays processed guitar in the duet.
