Hannah Ellul
Hannah Ellul works across forms, with a particular focus on sound, video, and publishing. She often works with archival materials, particularly in relation to overlooked histories, and am interested in the kinds of knowledge and political consciousness shaped by such practices. he has also often worked collaboratively, including as part of the project Psykick Dancehall, which explored sonic experience in cross-disciplinary collaborations with artists and organisations. Hannah graduated from the MFA in Fine Art at Glasgow School of Art in 2010 and subsequently completed a PhD in Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths. Recent projects have included a collaboration with Rebecca Wilcox for the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra’s Tectonics Festival, and new video work for a Nottingham Contemporary online series of artists’ moving image at the intersection of textual, visual, and sonic performance. A solo commission for Radiophrenia drew on a preoccupation with the materiality and corporeality of the voice, that has in turn shaped this current project.
