During the residency period at Q-O2, Margarida will work on the different properties of elementary materials – focusing on fire, flames and sparks – researching on the potential of creation by friction and controlled destruction/inflammable actions linked to a sustainable perspective. This residency aims to be a research of materials and conjugations, for in a way – work on the sonic and performative possibilities generated through these materials by activations in space, as well as – ways of amplifying and translating sound-ideas through “active sculptures” and interdependent systems – in a broad sense. Consequently, the proposal and the medium itself questions on the possibilities of demonstrating, documenting and archiving ephemeral actions. Self-destroyed art, fluxus movement and self-immolation cases are some topics holding this research. What can be considered sustainable nowadays? pega-fogo begins from the urgency of talking with a world in flames.
