Added Value is a project that focuses on the objects used for post-production of sound in films. There is often a significant gap between what we hear in a film and the means used to recreate that sound. It is up to the sound designer to come up with original solutions for the sounds to be imitated, and while every sound designer has their own methods and tools/objects at their disposal, there remain some classic examples: cellophane for fire, magnetic tape for grass, leather gloves for flapping wings, coconut for hooves… As a former musician, using preparations on double bass, I’m interested in what happens when a daily object is placed out of its context and I feel preparations, readymades and foley objects are connected in this sense.

During my residency on Q-O2 I will focus on the narrative potential of objects used for the post-production of sound. Creating installations with these objects, I want to research the layered narrative these objects present: a visual narrative based on the objects themselves, an auralized one based on the sounds they create and a conceptual one based on what these objects represent in movies through their use for the post-production of sound.
