Klangkabine/Akusma Disko is an ongoing project: a cabin with a surround sound system designed for one person. The objective is to create a spatial environment for immersive soundscapes or moving sounds. Each loudspeaker can be operated independently. The sound sequences are arranged in geometrical patterns or positioned precisely as spatial figures. The sound gestures in the space are created both manually and with the help of algorithms, depending on the given sound sources. During this residence Caroline Profanter will create a prototype cabin and three short compositions (miniatures) for different types of spatialization: immersive soundscapes, geometrical sound patterns and sound figures. The pure origin of the sounds (environmental or from objects) with their anecdotal connotation is transferred to new meanings due to electronic transformation and superposition.
