Jerome Giller
Jérôme Giller born in 1973 in Dijon, France. Artist, lives and works in Brussels since 2004. Jérôme Giller uses walking as a creative method to conduct an artistic reflection on urban and peri-urban territories and territorialities. In his plastic work, the body - but also the gestures of the body as the gestures of work - is the unit of measurement of geographical and social spaces. Walking with people allows him to create temporary collective communities. By including the public in his artistic’s work, he uses the act of creation as a paradigm to create commons. Since 2005, he has participated in many exhibitions in Belgium and France. In 2009, he obtained a research grant from the French Community of Belgium (TAMAT, Tournai). From September 2011 to January 2012, he was in artistic residence at the Cultural Affairs Department of the City of Tourcoing in France (residency : Greetings from Bourgogne-Marliere). In 2014, he was in artistic residence at the RAVI in Liège. The Residency resulted in the Publication of an Artist's Book, "Carnet de Liège", in the form of an interview with the art critic Anne-Esther Henao, published in 2016. In 2015, he works in the Rosendael's District of Dunkerque invited by the Mission of Art and Public Space of the City of Dunkerque. He participates in the exhibition « Being Urban, Laboratoire pour l'art dans la ville », organized by Pauline de la Boulaye and Adrien Grimmaux at ISELP (Brussels). He organizes a 9-day urban exploration walk on the border between Brussels and Flanders : « 72 KM.F.B. from 30 May to 7 June 2015 ». In september 2016, he was invited by the Galerie Interface (Dijon, France) to organize a retrospective personal exhibition called : « Itinéraires ».
