Clara de Asís – Distances Bending

As a duo, Clara de Asís and Rebecca Lane gather around the investigation of perceptual space, collaborative processes, and the development of pieces that are, more than settled compositions, elastic systems for ceaseless states of becoming. «Distances Bending» is their long-term project, which takes different forms in specific contexts and configurations in their exploration of harmonic and time proportions. Considering the most elemental aspects underlying the geometry of the harmonic series, one continuously rising sonic object (chord) undergoes a process of transformation and illumination as it travels from low to high, integrating a progressive complexification of frequency relationships.

This version for quartet incorporates friends Sarah Saviet (violin) and Deborah Walker (cello) and was originally composed in response to an invitation by Stefan Thut for a performance in Solothurn, Switzerland, in 2022. The project took a start during a residency at Q-O2, and was performed in a first version during the Oscillation festival 2023.

Please note: The CD album consists of a single 49-minute track, while the digital version is divided into six separate tracks.
