What does “space” mean in acousmatic music? And what is acousmatic music after all?
In this workshop you will hear something about the historical and theoretical aspects of acousmatic music and its “hyper-instrument”, called Acousmonium, an “ensemble” of loudspeakers spread out in the space. we also call it the “loudpseaker orchestra”, because every loudspeaker is different and has its own qualities.
The main objective of this workshop is to sensibilize the ear to the spatial and spectral possibilities of this instrument, that can be “played” manually with the faders of a mixing board.
How can you create a sound-relief in space and how can you emphasize transitions in music?
Let’s find ways to make the space vibrate and create a unique listening experience!
The Acousmonium is an orchestra of loudspeakers arranged in front of, around and within the concert audience. It has been designed to be directed by a performer who projects a sound work or music into the auditorium space via a diffusion console. The Acousmonium can take many forms, changing at will to adapt to the type of work and to circumstances.
