SWEET SPOT #1 – music for loudspeakers
05/05/2018 - 20:30 (doors 20:00)

The new concert series SWEET SPOT proposes a varied program of acousmatic and electro-acoustic music from local and international composers. A setup of more than 30 loudspeakers creates an immersive listening environment and invites the audience to open the ears to 360 degrees.

The first part of this concert is dedicated to a series of acousmatic pieces by Ingrid Drese, Adrien Glineur and Sophie Delafontaine. Then we will make a time travel back to the 1960s with the complete work “Faust” by Else Marie Pade, a Danish pioneer of electronic music. Else Marie Pade, born in 1924, is the first Danish composer of electronic music. Her biography is as fascinating as her music. She was both influenced by the French “musique concrète” and the serial electronic music coming from Cologne. We will present her work Faust (1962), an electronic suite, divided into 5 movements. In this work she uses both concrete and electronically generated sounds. Faust was originally a commission from the Danish radio as background music for a radio play production of Goethe’s Faust, but stands alone as a pioneering masterpiece. Finally Doron Sadja will play a special live set for the Acousmonium. Sadja creates post-human, hyper-emotive sonic architecture, combining pristine electronics with lush romantic synthesizers, extreme frequencies, dense noise, and computer-enhanced acoustic instruments.

After the concert we will enjoy the Muzak / background music by dJ Samsung Kimski with fresh cocktails by Roberto & Aela.
