Sophie Delafontaine
Sophie Delafontaine, born in Switzerland in 1988, discovered electroacoustic music through her practice of dance. She relocated in Belgium in order to train at the Royal Conservatory of Mons (Belgium), studying with Annette Vande Gorne, Philippe Mion, and Ingrid Drese among others. She obtained her Master in acoustic composition in September 2014. She followed Annette Vande Gorne’s spatialized performance class as well as her summer class. A recipient of the second prize for performance at the 2012 L’Espace du son competition (Brussels, Belgium), she regularly performs in concerts organised by Musiques & Recherches (Belgium). Her piece Respire, marche pars va-t-en won the Destellos prize for composition (Argentina) in 2013. Her compositions have notably been programmed at Musiques & Recherches, the Futura Festival (Crest, France), L’Espace du son (Brussels), Alte Schmiede (Austria), or Ina-GRM (Paris, France). In parallel, she regularly scores dance and theatre shows, and performs as part of the PSP duet (saxophone and electronics). She is also a founding member of the Séneçon electroacoustic music collective.
