This post-residency performance of Ruta Vitkauskaite explores the act of solo performing. After many years of working as a composer, in the context of numerous collaborations and as workshop leader, she realised that at this stage of her life she has little solo works – mostly of all of her music relies on other people.
That is why during her residency, Ruta stepped into this for herself little explored field, and experimented with the freedoms and obstacles that solo composing and performing offers. She created six short songs that do not have much singing, no use of known language, and no pre-recorded backing tracks, so they exclusively rely on her performance on the day.
