Pak Yan Lau & Rie Nakajima | Kalimi
07/04/2017 - 20:30

Pak Yan Lau plays the piano and writes music for dance, theatre and film. She mainly focuses upon free improvisation and poetic sound-mosaics by integrating the prepared piano and toy instruments. Rie Nakajima will be playing with objects. Her works are most often composed in direct response to unique architectural spaces using a combination of audio materials and found objects. Her credo is “The more I produce, the less I know. I don’t impose myself and my work answers the question.”

Kalimi are Giovanni Di Domenico (piano, Fender Rhodes) and Mathieu Calleja (drums), two active members of the Belgian improvisation and contemporary music scene. Their work takes listeners on a timeless bubble full of contemplation. By integrating elements of psychedelic rock, improvised music and electronic music, Kalimi offers music that will chaperon the audience into new sound worlds.
