Acousmatic Foley is a project dedicated to the study of sound in film and acousmatic music. For this residency, the project takes Chantal Akerman’s first short movie “Saute Ma Ville” (1968) as a case study. Throughout Akerman’s sound-work, the project wishes to foreground concepts as “sound-motif”, “sound-actor” and “sound-prop”.
Due to the project’s theoretical and practical nature, the film is to be presented as a mixed-media live performance. Together with a prepared soundtrack, live sampling and live foley will be added to the original content in order to emphasize the film’ sonic value. First throughout the projection of the movie, then acousmatically.
On December 17th, there will be a first research showcase. A moment to share the research developed during the residency, and a chance to pay tribute to Akerman’s work. The presentation will take 30 minutes.
