Kadoudja was an Algerian singer in Paris’s cafés-concerts during the XIXth century, from 1860 to 1890. Although she was quite famous during her career, she quickly disappeared into the unknown after her death. The only traces left of Kadoudja are the many articles written about her in the press at the time, her concerts programmes, and the scores of the songs she used to sing.
This project aims to tell the story of Kadoudja, by rewriting the songs, through trying different ideas to reclaim these songs in order to talk about Kadoudja and the café-concerts.
