Steffi Weismann, born in Zürich, lives in Berlin working on audiovisual and spatial concepts in time based arts. Recently she is focusing on her new instrument "LapStrap" a carpenter's belt equiped with microphones, signal processor, amplifiers and speakers, that allows her to move and control sounds directly on the body. Weismann has showcased as a video- or audio performer at numerous festivals and places including: Echtzeitmusiktage Berlin (2010), SoloLala Berlin (2009), migma Lucerne (2009), Eclat Stuttgart (2009), tesla Berlin (2005-2007), sonambiente Berlin (2006), Lem-Festival Barcelona (2006), Festival Neue Musik Rümlingen (2005), Maerzmusik Berlin (2005), trampoline Berlin (2004/2006), Nadine Brussels (2004). For her approach to performance and sound art she got the Dorothea-Erxleben-Grant of the Academy of Fine Arts Braunschweig (2009-2011). Beside of her solo work she plays concerts as a vocal performer with the group "Die Maulwerker" and is collaborating with composers and sound artists such as Annette Krebs, Georg Klein, Antje Vowinckel and Andrea Neumann.
