Peter Westenberg
Peter Westenberg is a Brussels based visual artist and cultural instigator working in the field of community based, technology related public art. His short films, videowork, walks and photography investigates urban iconography, vernecular architecture and social routines. A large part of his work takes place in the form of collaborative projects and commissions in urban contexts. The public video-workspace Uit+Thuis Videomagazijn (2002 – 2004, Vlaardingen, with Jeanne Van Heeswijk), and the language projects The Language Police (2006, Rotterdam), La Langue Schaarbeekoise (2009 – 2012, Brussels, with An Mertens and Clémentine Delahaut) and Parlez-Vous Saint-Gillois? (2013 – 2015, Brussels) are long term neighborhood based, site specific works that are authored by multiple artists and citizens that engage in various creative processes.
Peter Westenberg works since 2004 for the artist run non-profit association Constant, active in the fields of art, media and technology, connecting art, free software, feminism, copyleft and net-etchics in critical research based programs. He teaches at the Ecole de Recherche Graphique and works as free-lance curator, organisor and cultural advisor.
