Margarethe Maierhofer-Lischka
Margarethe Maierhofer-Lischka, born 1984 in Regensburg, is a double bassist, improviser, researcher and sound artist. She studied double bass, contemporary music and musicology and currently pursues a PhD in music aesthetics at the KUG Graz. In her work she uses sounds, images, situations and movements to explore different approaches towards reality, drawing on bodily perceptions of ephemeral and everyday phenomena. As a musician, she enjoys collaborations with renowned soloists, groups and composers as well as doing collaborations with artists from all fields. She works for several ensembles and initiatives for contemporary music, improvisation and interdisciplinary art in Austria and is dramaturg of the contemporary music ensemble Schallfeld in Graz. Her work has been supported by scholarships of the Austrian Federal Government and in 2018 she is holder of the Theodor Körner award for arts&science.
