Laura Tack
Laura Tack (1988) is a painter and sound performance artist from Belgium spending the majority of her time in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland. Her visual and auditory work captures a life that can be experienced through the multiple layers she adds over time. She creates with tools she feels connected with and in this practice she frees herself from rationality, using her intuition as the key motivator. It is through the layering of image and material that Laura seeks to connect the vastness of time using processes that emphasize the balance between creation and destruction. And when context, feeling, time and place aligns with each other – she constructs, deconstructs, reconstructs. Laura Tack holds a BFA and MFA from The Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Ghent. She has exhibited in New York, Miami, Minnesota (USA), Ghent, Leuven, Kortrijk (BE), Copenhagen (DE) and Seyðisfjörður (IS). She has collaborated extensively with artists practising in all different media and has been a member of Con Artist Collective in New York and Heima in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland.
