James Orsher is a composer and performer based in Berlin. His music mainly deals with alterations upon or situations designed for various kinds of found material. As a performer he is particularly fond of short text scores with minimal notation and pieces that require a high degree of concentration or patience rather than instrumental ability. He studied at Amherst College, the California Institute of the Arts and the University of California Santa Barbara. He is currently planning together with Kerstin Fuchs a concert series involving non-specialist performers in addressing issues of contemporary music performance practice for the project space complice (Berlin).
