Rupert Enticknap
Rupert is an opera singer (countertenor), performer and artist based in Berlin, questioning through his trans-disciplinary work what it really means to sing and express with the voice today. His research currently explores materiality of the voice and body, masculinities and choreographic processes with musicians. He has performed all over the world for companies such as ROH Covent Garden, La Monnaie Brussels, Opera National du Rhin, Adelaide Festival, Staatsoper Stuttgart, Theater an der Wien and Staatsoper Berlin. Recent notable engagements and projects include Olga Neuwirth The Lost Highway (Oper Frankfurt), Wojtek Blecharz’s FIASKO (Sophiensaele Berlin/Nowy Teatr Warsaw) & Parc Opera (Rümlingen), Inseln (Zionskirche Berlin), Monster Call (Tegeler See Berlin, Nico Sauer/Bigger Space), PASSIO b'rock/Fanny and Alexander (Brussels/den Haag/ Amsterdam) and Haas’s Thomas (Bayerische Staatsoper). Upcoming projects include the premiere four new works for singer and amplified piano (without pianist) as part of his own project "morphologies" at KM28 Berlin (funded by inm.e.V.); “Pommes mit Mayo” in collaboration with Nico Sauer and jazz trio Malstrom (Ackerstadt Palast, Berlin), and will perform in a new work by choreographer Ben J. Riepe (Düsseldorf). As well as producing his own projects, as part of the Berliner Gesellschaft für Neue Musik e.V. he contributes to a curatorial collective in the field of new music, leads the experimental vocal group the ‘Cashmere Radio GOAT CHORUS’ and loves to dance and cook.
