Constanza will do a live performance using voice and computer, based on a series of tango songs from her great grandfather. They were manipulated and transformed with the idea of going beneath the surface and capturing sonic nuances resisting the conventional notation and style of tango.
The distortion and manipulation of materials plays an important role in revealing the distance between traditional composition and a non conventional approach to an expansive idea of music.
The piece will evolve through improvisation with computer, pre-recorded sounds, some live electronics, and experimental singing. Taking sounds from the past into the present, the original melodies gently distort and degrades, accommodating to a kind of balance between production and loss.
