No previous experience is required. Experience with voice is welcome
In this workshop, we approach our voices as sources of vibrations, exploring sustained frequencies at different intensities, ranges and degrees of stability. We approach the body as a resonating chamber and the space as an extended resonance amplifier. We experience vocal drones as a relational, vibrational and embodied practice.
We begin with the body and breath as what supports us in sustaining long tones, continuing to sense where vibration resonates in the body. From there we start to attune to one another, first in unison, then through minimal shifts towards interference. Here we dwell: in interference, pulsation, tension and blending. Gradually, the voices move further apart, from close intervals towards wider frequency relations and collectively improvised dissonances.
We take the relational aspect of voices further: relating to a shared sustained base drone as a safety point to return to, relating to the space as a ground for sounding and silence, and relating to one another in moments where voices become a fluid field to dissolve into.
