Online residency – Algorithmic Artscape: a Platform for Exploring Distributed Community Creativity

The residency will orbit dual fronts; the development and deployment of a set of algorithmic tools in a public web platform, and the development of an online art gallery. Everything will be open sourced.

The web platform contains two components:

– A set of programming languages and other tools for live coding audio and visuals. We will also add an interface to train machine learning models on gesture recognition using some common input methods such as keyboard and mouse.

– A set of scores (prompts, instructions or poems) to inspire artistic creation either by making use of the tools above or external tools such as video and audio recording, writing, dance, photography… We are planning to be more centred in the way humans interact with the scores and the prompting process that in the tools used.

The online art gallery will showcase different artistic contributions, from the participants of an online workshop/try-out and invited artists from around the world, such as Colombia, California and other places.
