Gea Brown –

Et puis comme on dit, comme on parle de Bruxelles, soit on l’aime et on s’y attache, soit on la déteste et on la quitte.

Sound performance, turntables, cdj’s, looper and sampler machines, voice

The performance was born by collecting vocal materials from several interviews with acquaintances and strangers met by chance in the city of Brussels, who agreed to give a portrait of themselves.
From this, an archive of voices was born, like a pool to draw on to shape a performance in which fragmented sounds, words and phrases sampled in real time, can recreate the fragile incompleteness of human beings, the impossibility of having a full view of ourselves, the sudden inadequacy of language to decipher the perception of self, dissolved within the lived moments and memories like ink into the water.

Yannick Guédon –

e s p a_

During this residency in q-o2, Yannick Guédon has worked on an adaptation of the piecee s p a _ for a solo version.

e s p a _ , was premiered last year, with 7 singer – performers, in a radome in Saint-Nazaire (France).
This unamplified, a capella piece is conceived to reveal the acoustic specificities afforded by the architecture of a place. In other words, we explore how a musical composition can bring us to listen to a place. To this end, the singers not only interpret a musical score but also a choreographic score that guides their positions and movements. These precise scores activate modes of writing and processes that remain flexible enough to make them adaptable to every new concert space. There are therefore two main interests: adapting the piece to a specific space, and being curious about how this space is affected by the scores.
After a residency in Buda (KunstenCentrum Kortrijk) last September, Yannick Guédon will present a second draft of this solo version.
