Radical Sonic Tranformations – exploring music’s potential to enact social justice and feminist ideals
28/10/2018 - 11:00 - 17:00

We invite you to join electronic musicians and educators Bonnie Jones and Suzanne Thorpe, founders of TECHNE, for a day-long exploration of music’s potential to enact social justice and feminist ideals.

TECHNE is an arts education initiative focused on building inclusivity and gender equality in creative technology fields. In our workshop, we will consider technology-focused art making as a means of creating non-colonized, non-gendered sound materials; introduce Pauline’s Oliveros’ Deep Listening practice and Sonic Meditations; consider significant texts on social justice issues and explore musical improvisation. As educators, TECHNE believes these activities stimulate radical change, collectively and individually, musically and personally. Please join us as we continue to expand these possibilities!

This workshop is designed for arts educators, musicians, electronic artists, technologists.

Workshop is held in English. No special knowledge required.
