Wolke (German for “cloud”) invites you into a twilight universe of stories both dark and luminous. A quartet headed by singer Anja Kowalski, Wolke’s musical vocabulary is as idiosyncratic as it is personal: with keyboard, laptop, drums and guitar effects, the band melts jazzy grooves over experimental compositions and sober songwriting. Anja’s german background furthermore adds a theatrical ingredient from a bygone era to this musical ecclecticism. Her lyrics, English and German, evoke an authentic world of serenity and fragility.
