Robin Hayward will finish his ‘Jan van Gorp’ compositions with his trio Zinc & Copper Works, the creation will take place at the MusicalIinstrumentsMuseum.’Jan van Gorp’ is inspired by the theories of Jan van Gorp (1519-1572), a Dutch physician, linguist and humanist, who believed to have proved that Brabantic was the original language spoken in Paradise. The composition will draw on the sound of certain single-syllable Brabantic words that van Gorp used to support his theory. The aim is to translate into music the notion of searching for the sound of Paradise, along with some of the absurd logic and unforeseen associations brought about by the undertaking.
