Osso Exótico is a Portuguese group formed in 1989 around Patrícia Machás, André Maranha and David Maranha. Their current formation also includes Francisco Tropa and Manuel Mota. They have released their work on European, American and Japonese labels like Multinational (Portugal) Carbo Records (Portugal), Staalplaat (Netherlands), Ananana (Portugal), Sonoris (France), Drone (Germany), Namskeio (Switzerland), Phonomena (USA/Japan), crouton (USA), and Serralves (Portugal). Since their first release, Osso Exótico follows a singular musical course, playing mostly with acoustic instruments with very few treatments or effects.
The young sound artist Mieke Lambrigts has been working for quite some time on a series of site-specific sound interventions and compositions. She presented her work in art centres and festivals in Belgium, the Netherlands and US. She develops her creations in function of specific spaces, using the acoustic qualities found in these spaces as part of the composition or installation. With hardly anything except for field recordings and sinus tones, she creates a subtle soundtrack that merges almost completely with the environmental sounds and the resonance of the room.
