Discover a limitless source of new sonic ideas by listening to and responding to real world sounds, both recorded and in the immediate environment. Using sounds from cities, streets, fields, markets, and the workshop site itself, the day course introduces alternate ways to incorporate everyday sonic landscapes into your own performance and compositional practices.

Participants are introduced to various strategies to use and experience the sound around us in a series of practical collaborative listening and playing exercises.

With a focus on the everyday, the workshop offers the chance to interact with real world sound via carefully focused responses and common objects, electronics, or instruments. Non-musicians are invited to participate, as well as musicians, artists and performers.

Led by composer Johnny Chang and sound artist Luke Munn, this workshop is part of Exchange: Berlin, a dialogue between local performers and sound materials in various cities.
