Burkhard Beins,born 1964 in Lower Saxony, lives in Berlin since 1995. As a composer/

performer, working in the non-academic fields of experimental music, he is known for his

widely abstracted use of percussion instruments in combination with found objects and small

electric devices. Since the late 1980′s he is performing at internationally renowned venues

and festivals throughout Europe and overseas as diverse as the LMC Festival (London), SKIF

(St. Petersburg), Donaueschinger Musiktage, Musique Action (Nancy), ZKM (Karlsruhe), Gaudeamus

Festival (Amsterdam), Taktlos (CH), Computing Music (Cologne), MoMA (New York), or Maerzmusik

(Berlin). He is a member of groups like Perlonex, Activity Center, Polwechsel, Trio Sowari,

Phosphor, BBB and The Sealed Knot, and also works with Keith Rowe, Sven-Åke Johansson, Phil

Minton, Orm Finnendahl, John Tilbury, Charlemagne Palestine and many others. Meanwhile he

has released more than 30 CDs and LPs on labels like 2:13 Music, Zarek, Erstwhile, Hat Hut,

Potlatch, Absinth or Confront. His first Solo-CD “Disco Prova” has been released in 2007 and

combines field recordings and percussion material with digital multitracking.

 

Berlin-based musician and visual artist Michael Vorfeld plays percussion and self designed stringed instruments and works in the fields of experimental music, improvised music and sound and visual art. Besides his frequent solo activities, he is a member of various ensembles and collaborates with theater artists, choreographers, visual artists, and musicians on numerous projects. His list of activities includes concerts, performances and exhibitions in Europe, the United States, Asia and Australia. Current projects include: Zygoma, a trio with Jeff Gburek (guitar) and Michael Walz (electronics); a trio with Annette Krebs (guitar) and Anna-Maria Rodriguez (laptop); Vestige Vertical with Lothar Fiedler (guitar) and Michael Walz (electronics); a duo with sound and visual artist Claus van Bebber; and a duo with pianist Reinhold Friedl.

Since 1985 improvised music, related musical concepts and interdisciplinary projects with dance, theatre, sculpture, painting, film, performance, soundinstallation; in several groups as well as a soloist developing technics of soundshaping and preparations which are extending the sonic spectrum of the saxophone far beyond the traditional sound of the instrument. Concerts in Europe and Canada. Lives in Wiesbaden, where he is a founding member and organiser of the HumaNoise congress. He is a group member of WIE?!, Salpinx, Ensemble 2INCQ, Xtrax, DOMINO Orchestra and a duo with Charlotte Hug.
