How to share a space? And which space? How to be inside a space and inside ourselves? How to talk about the lives of others without telling a story? – Christina Clar (sound and video artist) and Fabrice Moinet (programmer, soundengineer) will build an installation based on interviews with migrants in Los Angeles – with people, human beings, navigating in multiple layers and languages, carrying several cultural fragments around without necessarily belonging to neither of them. What happens with culture (and cultures) or cultural belonging once they are disconnected from the ground or territory they came from, linked through airplanes, electromagnetic waves and optical fibres? They will create with the installation a space of dialogue where links, connections and exchange in between the sounds and thoughts are possible. The sounds are mixed and treated in real time by a computer and sent to a multichannel soundsystem that allows the voices of all these different people not knowing each other to ‘respond’, contradict or simply coexist.With the support of the Osterreichisches Kulturforum Interventions: Silvia Platzer (cello), Julia Eckhardt (altviola) & Marianne Kirch (voice) will improvise on the sounds and spaces.
