Gundega Graudiņa
Gundega Graudina is a sound adventurer who combines acoustic and electric string instruments, field recordings and real-time digital processing in her performances. A musical nomad, she studied classical guitar in Latvia, Lithuania, Spain and Belgium and obtained her Master’s degree cum laude from Brussels Royal Conservatory. Gundega is a member of AmbrA duo, a classical guitar duo which focuses on original compositions and transcriptions, and Modulute, a collaboration of Renaissance lute and modular synthesizers. Interested in luthery, she built her own kokle - a Latvian traditional string instrument- and is now developing an electric lute. Her interests also include acousmatic composition which she studied at Mons Royal Conservatory, free improvisation, soundscapes and site-specific sound art. Examples of the latter are her performances “Sound Species Path” which she created as Fiskars Artist in Residence (Finland, 2017) and "Darkscapes" which was made during her residence in Træna (Norway, 2018). She is now based in Riga, Latvia where she leads the educational programme of the Museum of Literature and Music, composes and performs.
