koto・mono – things and matters

Miki Yui – Rie Nakajima – Ryoko Akama

Three performances in which small things and matters play the central stage in the framework of festival Performatik

Miki Yui – mamagoto

‘mamagoto’ is  ‘manegoto’,  an imitation, is a common game among children,
repeating what one heard or saw ; imagine and learn through imitation.
The word ‘mamma’  is borrowed  from the ancient spoken language meaning ‘food’, especially ‘rice’, while ‘goto’ (or ‘koto’)means ‘thing’, or ‘act’.
“mamagoto” originally means to imitate adults´culinary praxis, but in this case it is in more broader sense, to imitate gestures.

Rie Nakajima – a hollow or a bump

Is the work in front of us a hollow or a bump? this can be a question.

The more I produce, the less I know. Even though confused, things are clearer.
Here using sound and object, I talk about sculpture, which has no form. It only exists in time.
I don’t impose myself and my work answers the question.
We are as we are so therefore I will not persuade others to understand what the work is about.
Come and go, is it going to be a hollow or bump? Could be both, could be none.

Ryoko Akama – almost empty – fields and waves

Sine waves and object vibrations respond to text. The examination of smallness is to manipulate space or field, in this case, in the context of a performance situation.
